Jaguar: The Leaping Cat Hibernates
Jaguar’s new CEO Thierry Bolloré has made some sweeping changes since he was installed as head trainer of the famed cat. The most recent announcement that Jaguar will not be introducing any new products until 2025 may raise some eyebrows, but we think it’s a brilliant move especially considering the plans to support Jag’s anticipated re-emergence from torpor.
If you’re as old as well…the trees and lived outside of the good ole USofA for any length of time, you may know that Jaguar had a very high-brow reputation once upon a time. People, rich people, cared. Now, not so much. More recently, Jag has been battling for last place in the luxury game and for the attention of the well-heeled. That’s Louboutin to you…kind person.
These days, at least here in Texas, you see a new Jag you think:
Old. Not ageist, just observant. Painfully trying to be different. The neighbors went German. Got lost on the way to the Mercedes dealership. Gave up. But Lexus is Japanese, right? It’s still 1990.
Now don’t get it twisted: Jags are beautiful cars. Is there anyone who hates the 2022 Jaguar F-Type? You’re dead to me. Have you not driven in a 2019 XJ? You haven’t lived. Lest we forget beauties like the E-Type. Hold. The. Phones. Yet, Jaguar realized an undeniable truth: All the finest materials or all the tech or all the performance don’t make luxury. Are you paying attention Infiniti? Furthermore, it’s 2022. EV or nothing.
86yr old Jaguar, the purveyor of **‘Grace, Space, Pace’ **is reinventing itself in 2025 as an all-electric luxury brand. We wait with bated breath. Please floor us with the stunning beauty and performance that we know Jag is capable of and with foolproof, seamless, beautiful and easy-to-use tech. We cannot wait. We have reserved front row seats for this metamorphosis. Make it so.
Also, Jaguar is moving upmarket. No more rubbernecking with the Mercedes, BMW or Audi types. Think, Bentley. If Jaguar pulls this off…and in 2025…insert rousing rendition of ‘Amazing Grace’ here
